A Flux System In addition to building and removing site services, PTI must also keep up with the flux in the schedules of the hundreds of on-site oil workers. Oil workers often work several days or weeks at a time, leave for a couple of days, and return for another long stretch. PTI bills oil companies additionally for days workers are present at PTI due largely to meal service. The days workers are present at PTI are known as service days. PTI was looking for a system to monitor and automate the calculation of service days. INNfinity was able to engineer such a system. Moreover, the Accounting Department then had to manually calculate a bill for each oil company, including a breakdown room charges and the determined service days for each of their employees. INNfinity was able to provide a much faster solution. INNfinity designed a custom interface to read PTI’s existing security card system. As each worker swiped his card to enter the restaurant or his wing, INNfinity was able to record the service day and route the charge to the appropriate oil company account. This custom interface saved PTI hundreds of hours in labor costs and billing errors were virtually eliminated. As an example, one of PTI’s largest permanent camps is the Executive Lodge at Athabasca. With 1,800 rooms, and considering that some of the rooms may be shared, you can begin to picture the incredible impact such a system had on PTI’s business.
